....and the winner of my Eames ESW giveaway
Hasn't it been a glorious week folks?
Summer has definitely arrived here in the UK, and this week has been a scorcher!
I have been very busy since my return from Copenhagen, where I visited some amazing shops and places for design. I shared part one of my Design Shopping guide to Copenhagen earlier this week, and part Two is coming soon.
but this week I've been taking advantage of the nice weather, starting and finishing some great new projects, working in the garden (Posts coming soon ), but I've also made some updates to our kitchen that I want to share with you all today.
Of course my new Eames ESW style chair from Chair furniture has added some serious style around the kitchen table...
Did you enter my giveaway competition to win one in the color of your choice?
If you did, the winner is announced at the bottom of this post.
I chose the light grey color, and I love the way it perfectly compliments my kitchen color scheme.
As you may know, I am a huge fan of Mid Century Modern Design, and the Eames ESW has been on my wishlist for ages: I love the juxtaposition between the moulded plastic seating and the wooden legs, not to mention the details and shape!
I have styled mine with a grey faux-sheepskin rug for the moment, so that my shorts-clad bum don't get stuck to it in the sticky heat of summer...
The addition of the ESW, inspired me to make some other changes to the kitchen:
I've replaced my old kitchen shelf with these Ekby/Tony/Gallo shelves from IKEA, and I love how light and airy they make the space seem now.
I've also added a wallrail with knobs from the IKEA PS-collection (one of my favorites) to hang my tea-towels and feather duster etc. from.
This was actually an off-cut from The one I installed in Mia's room, as it was too long: Now it's got it's own purpose (I love it when nothing goes to waste)
I had to cut the shelves down from 3 to 2, so that nobody would get hurt when passing them, but I'm sure I can find a use for that 3rd shelf somewhere;)
I love the look of open shelving in the kitchen, but mostly I am too unorganized to have everything on show...but the addition of these shelves lets me showcase some of my prettier items, like this face-pot from Speedtsberg that I got in Copenhagen.
Ofcourse I've still got the old wooden open-shelving in the kitchen, and I have a couple of new additions there as well, such as the Arne Jacobsen K-cup from Design Letters (also picked up in Copenhagen) and the Bittergurka watering can from IKEA (because my plants need water....as if I needed an excuse!!)
So, anyway....back to business:

And to help me pick a winner, my lovely assistant Mia drew a name out of her dad's wedding hat:
And the winner is.....
