Sadly there is no way you can make these polymer clay plates foodsafe! Polymer clay is toxic, and not suitable for food stuff!june olsenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00955146070639145582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5334983011637438110.post-81169206162909888822014-12-13T07:01:13.739-08:002014-12-13T07:01:13.739-08:00Love these plates! The link on how to glaze the doesn't seem to be working though and I was wondering if you were ever able to find a good way to glaze them to make them food safe. I left some instructions at hometalk re mica powders :), but having read the full tutorial it hit me that you would not need to cure once more, I mean after it had been baked. Just dampen a section of the bowl (which btw turned out beautiful, will try to do the same :)) with baby wipes and apply mica powders via stencil for example or as it is - with a soft, flat brush. Seal with fixative a couple of times (acrylic spray varnish is great here), and then give it a coat or two of a varnish of your choice. To make it completely scratch proof you would need a thin layer of polyurethane spray varnish at the very end.
ps. the name of your wonderful blog on hometalk is missing 'e' so it would not link here, just thought you may want to look into it...

and see you in a bit, I'm signing on to see what you came up with next.
best regards from a mum to a mum :)
Dominika dominikahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12041376189527612321noreply@blogger.com
